Dorothy Mae Leek, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on Tuesday, May 31st, 1932, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Ira Vincent Sturgeon, Sr. and Anna Mae (Larant) Sturgeon. Dorothy married Bill Leek, Sr. on May 29, 1949 and he preceded her in death on February 17, 2019.
Dorothy was a devoted member of the Crossroads Church in Centralia, where she found comfort, community, and purpose. Her talent for sewing and making crafts brought joy to many, and her creations are treasured mementos of her creative spirit. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, who were the center of her world.
She is survived by her loving children: Bill Leek, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Junction City, Ronald Leek of Centralia, and Patricia Leek of Junction City. Dorothy’s legacy continues through her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Along with several nieces and nephews who fondly remember her love and kindness.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Bill Leek, Sr., and her brothers: Ray, Roy, Ed, Tommy, and Ira Sturgeon, Jr. Despite these losses, she managed to carry her warm spirit and compassionate nature forward, touching the lives of many.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 11 to 1pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, and a Celebration of Life will be held following the visitation at the Funeral Home. Dorothy’s family welcomes friends and loved ones to share in their memories and celebrate her remarkable life.
