The first candidate has announced to run for Marion County Clerk and Recorder in the March 2026 primary. Current Clerk Steve Fox has indicated he will not seek re-election.
Greg Wright is a Deputy Clerk in the office now. He is a veteran of the US Army and served on the Salem Police Department for 23 years, retiring as a sergeant. Wright is a Marion County resident and a graduate of Salem Community High School and Kaskaskia College.
Wright has been married for 34 years to his wife Jill. They had one daughter who has blessed them with three grandchildren.
Wright says he has a deep connection to Marion County and wishes to now serve the constituents of the county as their next County Clerk and Recorder.
If elected, Wright says he is committed to work together with the Marion County Board and other county office holders to provide Marion County with the important services offered by the County Clerk and Recorder’s office. He promised to continue to provide transparency and accountability and to be a good steward of Marion County taxpayer’s dollars. Wright says he’ll also work to meet the ever-changing laws facing elections, vital records and the county recorder’s office.
