Vincennes 85; Kaskaskia 81
Vincennes led the entire game, but had to fend off a Kaskaskia rally before topping the Blue Devils, 85-81, in Centralia.
After a 9-0 start, VU (18-3) led 32-27 with 2:45 to play in the first half, then broke away for a 42-29 edge at the break.
The Trailblazers led 69-56 at the 8:30 mark when Kaskaskia mounted comeback to within 74-70 with 4:49 left in the game.
Vincennes seemed to regain control in the next 3 ½ minutes and led 82-75 with 1:13 to play.
The Blue Devils got two free throws from Anthoni Sandford to get within 82-79 with :26,1 on the clock.
Lebron Thomas hit one of two free throws six seconds later and VU led 83-79.
After a missed three-point attempt, Kaskaskia lost the ball out of bounds, but got another reprieve when Terrell Galbreath stole the ball and scored with 2.3 seconds to play.
Thomas was fouled again and converted a pair of free throws for the final score.
Thomas had his third double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 assists.
Dayton Williams drilled three treys and scored 15 points while Michael Cooper notched a fourth double-double with 14 points including 12-12 free throws and ten rebounds.
Marquel Newsome scored 20 points for 13-6 KC including three 3’s. Myles Liddell scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half while from the bench, Sanford and Lyonel Hodges added 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Vincennes recorded a 12th straight win and leads John A Logan by one game in the Region 24 standings.
John A Logan 78; Shawnee 55
John A, Logan trailed visiting Shawnee 26-24 at halftime before taking control for a 78-55 win over the Saints.
Davius Loury paced the 13-7 Volunteers with 21 points while Julian Norris, Jr., scored all 14 of his total in the second half and Jayden Miles tossed in fourteen points.
Shawnee (10-8) was led by Johnny Anderson’s 14 points. James Deloach scored 13 and Kesean Washington tallied eleven.
The Saints played without leading scorer Ladricus Pittman (16.5 ppg) who is sidelined with a knee injury and head coach John Sparks who was out suffering from the flu.
Lake Land 87; Wabash Valley 73 (correct)
Lake Land gained an 87-73 home court win over Wabash Valley improving the Lakers’ record to 17-4 on the season.
Sam Hincapie scored 19 of his game-high 24 points to pace Lake Land while Devon Woods scored 19 points, Payton Weemer, 13 points with three 3’s and Johnny Jones twelve points.
Muja Burton tossed in 18 points for Wabash Valley (10-11) with another 13 points by Khore Furlow.
Lake Land led 43-34 at halftime.
SWIC 78; Lincoln Trail 65
Southwestern Illinois came away from Robinson with a 78-65 victory over Lincoln Trail.
Lee Williams’ season-high 22 points including 15 in the second half paced the Blue Storm while Nick Horras scored 15 points and DaQuan Little scored all 12 of his points in the second half.
Gabe Omoregie had 23 to lead Lincoln Trail (9-7) while Ty Wililams had 21 points in the game.
SWIC (12-6) led 29-23 at halftime.
Rend Lake 91; Olney Central 68
Rend Lake led Olney Central 42-41 at halftime before breaking away to beat the homestanding Blue Knights, 91-68.
Zeke Wilson and Rolen Adams scored 21 points each for the 9-10 Warriors while Elijah Edosa scored 19 points and Owen Treat hit three triples and scored 13 points.
OCC (2-16) was led by Jahlil Bethea with 19 points. Kasym Nash scored 14 points, Cristobal Vargas, 11 points with three treys and Kaiden Miller scored ten points.
