The Salem Wildcats fell to 5-18 with a 73-54 home loss to Wesclin. Sophomore Gavin Rahm led Wesclin with 17, Chandler Mueller finished with 16 with Bryce Harre and Owen Szpila added 15. Salem was led by Kaeden Bevolo with 13, Ryegan Warren added 12 and Miking Ettress finished with 10. The Cats were just 5-of-23 from the three point line and only 3-of-7 from the free throw line. Salem will host state ranked Columbia on Friday before traveling to DuQuoin Saturday afternoon.
The Salem JV fell 48-40 in a tight ball game. Avery Gullion had 13 to lead the Cats and Payton Gullion followed with 12. Kaiden Miraglia finished with 6.
In other action, Sandoval beat Martinsville 51-44. Drew Gore led the Hawks with 13, Quinton Heinzmann added 18 and 9 from Trayton Adams.
Also in boys hoops, Carlyle beat Greenville 47-42, Columbia over Waterloo 50-39, Wood River lost to Gillespie 85-64, Mater Dei beat Madison 56-34, TTown fell at home to Mt Zion 45-40, Webber over Wayne City 63-43, Woodlawn beat Grayville 69-57.
In the NTC Tournament, North Clay beat Windsor/Stew-Stras 67-54 and St Anthony over Neoga 54-39.
