A 30-year-old Salem man has pleaded guilty in Marion County Court to stalking and public indecency charges.
John Anderson of East Rogers Street was sentenced to 30 months probation and 180 days in the county jail with day for day credit for time served. He will have to undergo drug and alcohol evaluation with treatment, mental health evaluation with treatment, as well as sex offender evaluation with treatment. Anderson was ordered to have no contact with the victim and signed a permanent staking no contact order as part of the plea agreement.
Anderson was charged with on at least two occasions from November 25th through December 7th of placing a home in the 700 block of North Ohio under surveillance. In the first incident on November 25th, he admitted walking around the victim’s property and staring through the front window of the home while committing a sex act. On December 7th he is accused of staring through the front window while committing a sex act. The stalking charge claims the acts placed the victim in reasonable apprehension of immediate or future bodily harm, sexual assault, confinement or restraint. The public indecency charge claims in the December 7th incident he knowing committed an act of sexual conduct while on the front porch of the home.
