2025 01/31 – Ocie Reeves Jr.

Ocie Reeves Jr., 75, of Centralia, IL passed away Monday, January 20, 2025. He was born on October 13, 1949, in East St. Louis, IL, to Ocie Reeves, Sr. and Ann Harper Clark, who both preceded him in death.

Survivors that will mourn the loss of Ocie include his beloved family and his children: Pierre Manley of East St. Louis, Varian Reeves of North Carolina, Michael Jett of California, Kai (Rebecca) Reeves of Centralia, and Dwight  (Yolanda) Harris of Collinsville; his cherished grandchildren: Kaileyania, Davin, Dorian, Patience, Samirah, Maijer, Isaac, Tarian, Brittany, Tylan, Donte, Tehya, Edwin, Tyler, Aubrey, Mia, and Ciara; his precious great-grandchildren, MaKai, and Issac Jr.; beloved stepmother, Yvonne Reeves; and former wives, Lillie Reeves, Vicki Reeves, and Valicia Moore.

Mr. Reeves was also preceded in death by: his children, Kimberly Brewer, Carl Reeves, and Dorian Reeves; and siblings, George Reeves, Bobby Jo Wilkes, Carolyn Reeves, and Marion Jones.

Mr. Reeves knew the value of a hard day of work, serving as a loyal employee of World Color Press in Salem until his retirement. As a licensed barber, he looked forward to days cutting hair for his clients who quickly became his lifelong friends. He was an amazing cook who loved to whip up meals to feed friends and family, enjoying the time sharing good food and telling stories around the table. Ocie always watched his western shows from the comfort of his favorite chair and would invite visitors to watch with him. He was an amazing man who loved to be with people. He never met a stranger and he knew how to captivate an audience with his legendary story telling. Ocie was courageous, well respected, a true gentleman and loved by everyone he met. Ocie will be deeply missed but his legacy will never be forgotten.

A memorial visitation service will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia, where friends and relatives may offer words of comfort and support to Ocie’s family.
