Jefferson Fire officials say a Sunday night fire at a rural Belle Rive home was confined to one room.
Firemen say the fire was at the Kenny Zimmerman home in the 2700 block of North Hamilton. They report all the occupants were able to get out safely and Zimmerman used a garden hose to knock flames down in the utility room prior to the fire department’s arrival. Firemen put the rest of the fire out and kept the fire contained to the one room.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The fire call came in at eight pm, with firemen on the scene for about an hour and a half.
Mt. Vernon, Bluford, Benton, and Wayne City Firemen were called for mutual aid assistance while Kell and Woodlawn firemen provided change of quarters.
