The Centralia City Council Monday night will recognize two long time employees on their retirement. Kent Niermann is being recognized for over 31 years of dedicated service at the water treatment plant. His retirement became effective on January 2nd. Kim Abbott will be recognized for over 20 years of dedicated service at the animal shelter that concluded with her retirement on December 21st.
The council will be asked to waive bids and purchase several vehicles for the Public Works Department. One resolution would allow the purchase of two trucks from Gowen Wholesale Auto for $35,800. Another two trucks would be purchased through an agreement with Crump’s Auto and Trailer Sales. A utility dump bed trailer for use in leaf vacuuming would also be purchased through Crump’s at a cost of $12,805.
The council will also be asked to pass a resolution allowing the city manager to solicit proposals from electric suppliers through Affordable Gas and Electric.
Another resolution would accept an engagement letter from C.J. Schlosser and Company, LLC for auditing services for fiscal year 2024.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
