Through a partnership with United Medical Response, the Salem Emergency Management agency has received six Rescue Task Force bags that will be placed into all three EMA vehicles.
Director Andrew Strong says the bags are identical to RTF bags carried by local fire, police and EMS for mass casualty/active shooter incidents.
Bags are equipped with popular medical equipment to provide rapid treatment to severely injured individuals and aid them in rapid extrication form the ‘hot zone’ to a triage area and then eventually to a hospital/trauma center.
The Same Emergency Management Agency will have upcoming training provided by United EMS on the TTF systems as well as an AED that was donated by them late last year to enhance EMA services to the residents and First Responders in the City of Salem.
Strong says EMA is an ever changing and constantly growing profession. He says adapting, updating and staying current to today’s threats and disaster is key to protecting and saving lives.
