A 34-year-old Salem woman has been charged with four counts of aggravated driving under the influence for allegedly having four persons under the age of 16 in her vehicle when stopped on a reckless driving complaint.
Salem Police say Brittany Chalkus of Red Stripe Road was stopped on West Main near its intersection with Hotze Road in Salem on December 6th. After failing field sobriety tests, Chalkus was given a notice to appear in court.
The Marion County State’s Attorney’s office charged Chalkus on Friday. If convicted of the Class Two felony charges Chalkus faces a mandatory fine of $2,500 and 25 days of community service in a program benefiting children in addition to any other criminal or administrative sanction.
Chalkus was issued a notice to appear in court for January 6th.
