Work has been completed on the $3.4-million dollar Green Street and Odin Road safety improvement project.
Guinzey Construction of Ashley reports the barricades were removed last Tuesday on the realigned Odin Road bridge just north of Green Street Road and it was made available to traffic. Work was completed a short time earlier on the Green Street Road portion of the project.
The improvements to Green Street Road extend from the Brewery Hill Road east of Central City to Scout Road near Lake Centralia. Shoulders were widened on the curves of Green Street Road, there was installation of additional guardrail and signage as well as rumble strips on the shoulder and centerline. Some drainage improvements were also completed.
On the Odin Road, the bridge north of Green Street Road was widened and the curve leading to the bridge corrected so if you are going too fast entering the bridge you can still get over safely.
The goal of the project is to reduce the number of wrecks on the two roads.
