The Salem Lady Cats improved to 5-1 on the season with a road win at West Frankfort 46-32. Emma Gregg scored 18 and Jordan Kessler added 15. With the game tied at 8 early in the first half, Salem used a 15-0 run to take a commanding lead 31-16 at the halftime break. Salem will travel to Breese Central to open the Cahokia Conference on Thursday before playing at Hillsboro on Saturday.
Also in prep girls hoops, Altamont beat Dieterich 53-33, Civic Memorial over Mascoutah 61-30, Breese Central routed Freeburg 65-21, Brownstown/St Elmo over South Central 69-17, Wood river nipped Piasa 44-42, Highland over Waterloo 40-30, Mt Carmel over Flora 67-36 and Wesclin beat down Chester 66-31.
