The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to approve its yearly budget and tax levy.
A hearing on the budget is scheduled for 5:30 ahead of the regular six pm meeting.
The budget as presented has a surplus with revenue of $31,487,203 and expenses of $29,667,296. City Manager Kory Smith says the primary goals of the budget are to foster economic development, reduce crime, enhance safety, provide recreation and continue improving city streets, public properties and services for both residents and business owners.
The council will also be asked to approve a $2,935,159 tax levy that will be applied to next year’s property tax bills.
The agenda includes a resolution approving an inter-governmental agreement between the City of Centralia and Village of Central City in conjunction with a Community Development Block Grant application being submitted by the village of Central City for storm sewer and drainage improvements.
Ordinances will come before the council to sell vacant lots at 1106 North Maple and 1002 East Rexford to the highest bidder announced earlier.
The council will consider a resolution to provide a $100 bonus for current fulltime employees and $50 for part time employees along with a letter of appreciation from the city council and city manager.
