A Centralia home scheduled for demolition was destroyed in an early Monday morning fire.
Centralia City Firemen say the home at 629 North Locust was engulfed in flames upon their arrival. Fire officials believe the fire spread from a nearby trash fire through leaves and trash into the back of the home. It then spread through the rest of the structure.
The fire call came in at 3:23 Monday morning when a neighbor heard what sounded like explosions and after getting out of bed discovered the house fully engulfed.
All available Centralia City Firemen were called in and the Centralia Fire Protection District provided mutual aid on the scene. Sandoval covered the Centralia Fire Station in the event of another fire.
Firemen were on the scene until six Monday morning.
