The Illinois Commerce Commission has approved a $130,000 improvement to the West 4th Street railroad crossing in Kinmundy.
The improvements will be to the approaches and curbing. The entire cost will be covered by the Grade Crossing Protection Fund. The city of Kinmundy will be responsible for future maintenance costs.
ICC Commissioner Michael Carrigan says enhancing the safety of Illinois’ rail crossings is vital for everyone who lives, works and travels along the railroad tracks.
