Bill Meyer, age 76, passed away on October 20th, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and stories that will be retold for years to come.   He formerly lived in Centralia and was a supervisor at Gilster-Mary Lee.

Born on January 3, 1949, to Violet and Frank Meyer, Bill grew up in Marathon, Iowa, where he developed a gift for conversation and a quick sense of humor that stayed with him his entire life. He proudly served his country as a Navy Seabee, completing two tours in Vietnam and continuing his service in the Army and Naval Reserves.

Bill married the love of his life, Eileen, on March 19, 1971. Together, they built a family known for their humor, resilience, and strong work ethic, a reflection of Bill’s own spirit. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Meyer, and his children Ben Meyer (wife Lisa), Amy Gardner (husband Don and children Jacob, Josh, and Jillian), Cindy Meyer (son Xavier Royer), Barry Meyer, and Eric Meyer (daughter Abby). He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Meyer, and sister, Linda Barrish.

Bill lived with Parkinson’s disease for over 25 years, meeting every challenge with humor, courage, and determination. He never met a stranger, could find common ground with anyone, and always knew how to make people laugh.

He will be remembered for his wit, kindness, easy smile, and ability to turn everyday moments into good stories.

In honor of Bill, share a laugh, tell a joke, or strike up a conversation with someone new; he’d like that.
