Karen Elaine Martin-Ramsey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025, in Centralia, IL, at the age of 79. She was born on Sunday, January 6th, 1946, in Woodlawn, Illinois, to the late Leslie and Edna Martin.
Karen dedicated her life to her family and community, nurturing and uplifting the lives of those around her with her kindness and unwavering support. She created a loving home that served as a gathering place for family and friends alike.
She is survived by her devoted sons, Larry Dale Burton, Jr. and wife Robin of Centralia, Ricky Dean Burton and wife Karen of Salem, and Dallas Burton of Centralia. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Among them, a special bond was shared with her grandchild, Nicholas Burton. Karen also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart.
Karen was preceded in death by her loving parents, Leslie and Edna Martin, her brothers Ward and Bill Martin, her infant sister Winifred Martin, and two grandsons, who she now joins in eternal peace.
Karen will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, dedication to family, and ability to bring warmth to every encounter. Her legacy will continue through the countless lives she touched and the memories she helped create. Her love for butterflies, collecting Roosters for her kitchen, and dancing were some of Karen’s enjoyments in life. Her family meant the world to her; taking care of anyone she knew, she will be remembered for her heart of gold.
Funeral Services for Karen Elaine Martin-Ramsey will be held Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Dr. Paul Havrilka officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Catherine Cemetery in Woodlawn, IL. A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home before the time of service.
