The Marion County Board Tuesday night confirmed they wanted to accept a $27,000 settlement with Kroger in ongoing litigation involving drug companies and pharmacies over past practices in distributing opioid drugs.
State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth says the county was given an option out of the settlement when several other members of the litigation group pulled out and were able to negotiate a better settlement by themselves. However, the board voted to receive the settlement as originally negotiated.
Hudspeth said an emergency meeting had to be called because the time frame to pull out was very short and would have ended before the next regular county board meeting.
