Centralia City Firemen say a 2001 Buick had its engine compartment destroyed when the car caught fire when being jump started early Monday evening.

Firemen say the engine was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at the Adam Jourdan home on Jonas Street.   Firemen laid a line to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the car and to a nearby garage.

Fire officials say Jourdan had been working on the car before attempting to jump start the vehicle.

The fire call came in at 6:48 Monday night.
