Franklin Park Wins Baseball State Title….Lady Bobcats Softball Runner Ups

Bobcats Win 2nd Class L State Title Beating Previously Unbeaten Marion

The Franklin Park Bobcats are SIJHSAA State Baseball champions for just the 2nd time in school history as they came back to beat previously undefeated Marion at Rotary Park yesterday 5-3.  The game was tied at 2-2 in the fifth when Marion would go on top with a run.  Salem responded with 3 runs in their half of the inning on hits from Owen Tennyson, Kai Graham and Emit Gibson.  Graham doubled and finished the game 2-3, Tennyson also had 2 hits and Jax Schaubert singled and scored.  Jax was also the winning pitcher going 6 innings allowing 7 hits and 2 earned runs.  Rhett Starnes got the final 3 outs for the save.  Salem’s previous state title came in 2020 when they went undefeated and knocked off Benton in the state championship.  Coach Tyson Moore was the head coach, and is currently the assistant under  head coach Ricky Huge.

DuQuoin won the 3rd place game over Waterloo 13-0.


Lady Bobcats Bring Home First Ever State Trophy With 2nd Place Finish

Franklin Park softball finished 2nd in Class L falling to Sparta Lincoln 12-1.  Teagan Lobek went 2-3 with singles from Maci Susmena and Kenna Benjamin.  Emily Parret took the loss but only 2 of the 12 runs were earned as Salem made 7 errors in the game.  The Lady Bobcats season ends at 10-9 and bringing home the school’s first ever softball state trophy.

Carterville beat Marion in the 3rd place game 9-8.


Nashville Wins State Softball Title Again

In Class M softball, Nashville made it back to back state titles with their 10-0 win over Fairfield.  Goreville beat Pinckneyville in the 3rd place game 15-3.  In baseball action, Smithton won the state title over Goreville 2-0 and Nashville beat NCOE for 3rd place 12-1.


 

Summersville Wins Class S Baseball Title 

In Class S softball, New Hope finished an undefeated season with an 11-2 win over Century in their state title game.  Pinckneyville shutout St John’s Red Bud 4-0 in their 3rd place game.   Summersville won the Class S baseball title beating Cisne 12-0.  Our Lady Mount Carmel beat St John’s Red Bud in the 3rd place game 9-1.
