Full house of vendors for Saturday’s Little Egypt Festival

The Little Egypt Festival in Salem on Saturday will feature one of the biggest numbers of vendors in the 53rd year of the festival.

Beth Henke is in charge of the vendors around the courthouse square.

“We’ve got our normal foods that we normally have,” she said. “We also have Mexican cuisine that was added on this year.”

And a large number of craft vendors and information booths are also planned.

“There’s someone that’s doing sixteen by twenty paintings,” Henke said. “We have all kinds of nonprofits going around the courthouse. The library will be set up giving books out, Red Cross is going to be there. Also, the hospital’s going to be set up, I believe they’re going to have great big lungs and colon balloons set up. We also have a lady that is set up with a Cattery, where you can actually go in and visit with the cats.”

Henke says the Cattery will also take part in the parade that caps the day’s activities at two Saturday afternoon.   While the festival is full, Henke says if there are some vendors who would still like to join, they are welcome to contact her through the Little Egypt Festival’s Facebook page.  Henke isn’t sure what brought the added interest this year, but feels it might be related to a number of events having to be cancelled last weekend due to the rain.
