The South Central School Board has celebrated the completion of the $2.8 -million addition and renovation of the Middle School with a ribbon cutting.

Principal Greg Grinestaff says the project was a long time coming.

“We have connected the gym complex to the main school building, remodeled all four bathrooms in the main building also as well as replacing the 2 bathrooms in the gym complex.”

Grinestaff says safety was a main concern.

“Defeated the purpose of having the door lock and fob systems when all you have to do is wait for 40 minutes until the bells ring and someone would open the doors for you.”

Grinestaff says the new addition will also keep students out of the rain and snow during inclement weather when going to PE or to music and band which were  both separated before from the main building.

Other work included an expansion and renovation of the concession area next to the gym and replacing the outside glass to the window above the gymnasium entrance.
