Patoka School District residents will be asked in the November election if they want to elect all school board members at large.
Right now there is a restriction that restricts that not more than three members be elected from any township that makes up the school district. The restriction dates to the consolidation of the schools that now make up the Patoka School District.
If voters approve the change, all seven board seats would be up for election in April with a lottery then determining who will serve a two or four year term.
Superintendent Justin Venhaus says there has been times in the past where there has been difficulty finding board members because of the township restrictions.
Venhaus informed the board he would be attending a meeting of administrators of the Odin and Sandoval School districts later this month on if a feasibility study should be considered for consolidation of the three districts.
In other action, the board employed Blaine Hyde as trap shooting coach and accepted the resignations of Ambria Hays as school nurse and Corey Hassel as trap shooting coach. The Superintendent was given authority to hire a junior high cross country assistant coach.
The head custodian’s title was changed to director of maintenance, with adjusted compensation.
