Two Iuka residents were treated on the scene following a head on crash on the Route 161 Extension east of the Lincoln Road early Wednesday night.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies reports indicate an RV driven by 60-year-old Craig Heitkamp of Marvin Street in Central City crossed the centerline and struck a pickup truck driven by 46-year-old Aaron Tate of Dago Hill Road in Iuka. The RV then left the scene, but was later found stopped along the Route 161 Extension near the Iuka Road by an Iuka Police Officer on his way to assist the sheriff’s deputy.
Both Aaron Tate and his wife who was a passenger, 46-year-old Patti Tate, were treated on the scene by United Medical Response but declined hospital treatment.
Heitkamp was not hurt. He was ticketed for improper lane usage.
The crash occurred at 5:44 Wednesday night.
