An estimated $2,000 was raised for the Salem Animal Control facility during a Sunday fundraising event at the Salem Aquatic Center.
The Salem Animal Control Facility manager, Stephanie Rakers, was pleased with the turnout.
“It was a beautiful day for everybody to come out. I think we had just about 200 people here. We had great attendance prizes and selling baked goods. We just had a lot of wonderful support today.”
The money goes to the emergency medical needs of animals brought to the facility as well as the continuation of the spay-neuter trap-release program for cats.
Sunday was the final day of operation for the Salem Aquatic Center for the year as school begins in the coming week.
