By Austin Williams Aug 7, 2024 | 1:35 PM

The goal has been set for the 2024 Marion County Relay for Life.  It is $40,000 with $13,825 turned in as of late last month.

The annual event will be held Saturday, September 28th, at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Salem.  The goal is to have 15 teams, with eight registered so far.  Relay organizers hope to have 115 participants and 75 cancer survivors.

The event will open at four pm with team booths open with food, raffles, silent auction and more.   The Cancer Survivor Reception also begins at four.  Opening ceremonies will be at five, followed by the Survivor, Caregiver and Team Laps.  Luminaria Ceremony will be at seven.  Closing ceremonies will follow at eight.

Everyone is welcome to attend Relay For Life as we take the evening to celebrate Cancer Survivors, remember those who cancer has taken too soon, and fight back against cancer by raising funds for vitally important research programs, patient services and education, and initiatives for public awareness of cancer screenings, healthy lifestyles and food choices to help reduce the risk of certain cancers.

Sponsorships are currently being sought, and anyone interested in a sponsorship may call 618-267-1806. Anyone interested in forming a Team can register on our website www.relayforlife.org/marionil and can do so at anytime—-even the day of the event, in person!

Anyone with questions can contact Stacey.Dutton@cancer.org or by calling 309-234-9012.
