More severe thunderstorms crossed Marion, Clay and Wayne Counties late Thursday morning.
The storms also dumped an additional 1.17 inches of rain at the Salem Water Plant and 88-hundredths of an inch at the Centralia Water Plant aggravating already flooded low lying areas.
The storms also caused several trees and tree limbs to fall, sometimes bringing down power lines with them. Several power outages were reported on the Ameren Illinois and Tri-County systems. The Salem Fire Protection District was called to the 3900 block of Post Oak Road south of Salem where a power line had become entangled in a tree.
Salem Firemen were also called to Airport Road where a car had stalled in high waters. The occupant was able to get out before the department arrived and the car was later towed from the scene.
