A 31-year-old Mt. Vernon woman was killed in a two car-semi truck crash on Route 37 just north of Mt. Vernon Tuesday morning.
The victim is identified by Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse as 31-year-old Aimee Bockhol of South 20th Street. She was pronounced dead on the scene from multiple injuries after being trapped in her car.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies say Bockhol was traveling northbound on Route 37 near Old Salem Road when she crossed the centerline and hit the back end of a southbound car driven by 81-year-old Leroy Tucker of Madison, Illinois. The impact spun Tucker’s car around before it came to rest in the northbound lane. Bockhol’s car then collided with a southbound semi driven by 27-year-old Conner Kempf of Jasper, Indiana. The semi went into the roadside ditch and then came back across both lanes of Route 37.
Both Tucker and Kempf were taken to Crossroads Hospital in Mt. Vernon for treatment of injuries.
The crash occurred at 7:18 Tuesday morning. Route 37 was closed to traffic for about three hours for cleanup and an investigation by a State Police Accident Reconstructionist.
