The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that State Route 161 will be closed to all traffic a mile east of Albers on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
The full closure allows repairs by the Norfolk Southern railroad to a crossing between Grassy Branch Road and Hunter Road. Weather permitting, work will begin at 6 a.m. Monday, July 8th. Work is expected to be completed by 9 p.m. Tuesday.
A posted detour will be in place to safely guide motorists around the closure.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
