Centralia Police have released information on the weekend arrest of an 18-year-old Centralia man on armed robbery, home invasion, aggravated assault, and felony resisting arrest charges.
Police say Steward Stumbaugh of Brookside Avenue is accused of entering a home in the 300 block of West Kell where he jumped out at the occupant investigating a noise, displayed a butcher knife, and threatened to kill him if he didn’t give him money. The man gave the suspect $60 and he left through the front door without causing any injury to the victim.
Police believe Stumbaugh gained access through the residence by breaking out a rear window.
Police say they were able to develop Stumbaugh as a suspect later Saturday night and went to his home. When attempting to arrest him, Stumbaugh allegedly resisting causing an injury to the right thumb of the arresting officer resulting in the felony resisting arrest count being added in Clinton County Court since he resides in Clinton County.
