Police Beat for Sunday, June 23rd, 2024

An 18-year-old Centralia man has been arrested for armed robbery, home invasion, and aggravated assault.  Steward Stumbaugh of Brookside Avenue was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on formal charges by the State’s Attorney’s office.  Centralia Police have released no details about the arrest.

Salem Police arrested 18-year-old Trevor Bryan of Willow Springs in Mt. Vernon on an outstanding misdemeanor no bond warrant for failure to appear on a charge of possession of alcohol by a minor.  He was a passenger in a Saturday night traffic stop.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 53-year-old Marjorie Woodward of Hoots Chapel Road in Salem for failure to appear on a contempt of court warrant.   She was taken into custody at her home after deputies were called to a disturbance.

The Salem Fire Protection District was called to the Citation Oil electric substation on Nation Road southwest of Salem late Saturday afternoon for a brush fire.   The fire covered about an acre and did not threaten any buildings.   The cause of the fire has not been determined.  The fire call came in at 5:07 on Saturday afternoon.
