State Police say four people were injured when an SUV ran a stop sign while traveling southbound on Buchanan Road at the intersection with the Route 161 Extension in rural Iuka.
Initial information indicates after the collision the straight truck rolled over, ejecting all three people in the truck. Three Air Evac helicopters were dispatched to the scene to airlift the three to St. Louis University Hospital. The driver of the SUV was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
State Police have not released the names of those involved at the present time.
The crash occurred at 8:07 Wednesday night and the Route 161 Extension was not reopened until 4:41 Thursday morning to allow for cleanup and an Illinois State Police accident reconstruction report to be completed.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department as well as Iuka and Kell Firemen were all at the scene to assist.
We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
