The Illinois Department of Transportation will begin work on a $14.6-million dollar resurfacing and bridge reconstruction program on US 51 in northern Marion County in the state’s new fiscal year that begins July 1st.
The project includes reconstruction of the Louse Run Bridge seven and a half miles south of the Fayette County Line and resurfacing of US 51 from the Fayette County Line to just south of the Britt Road in rural Patoka. The bridge reconstruction project has an estimated cost of $7.6-million and the resurfacing at $7-million.
While the major work is part of the five year road program, the initial stages of the bridge reconstruction will start in the next fiscal year. That includes $50,000 apiece for land acquisition and utility adjustments.
