The Salem Community Band and Chorus performed to large crowds at the Salem Community Theatre over the weekend.
Debbie Woodruff, who helped bring the community music program back, was pleased.
“I’m thrilled with the community response,” Woodruff said. “I’m thrilled with the performances of these band members and these choir members. They really came together, and they put on a great show for our community. We are overwhelmed by the community’s support and just look forward to continuing to grow in size and bring those people in for more music.”
Woodruff is especially pleased that the group contains eight current or former school band directors. Four of them were able to perform solos during the shows this weekend that centered around music from movie themes.
There were 50 members of the band and 38 members of the chorus for the Saturday and Sunday shows.
The group will next perform in December with a Christmas show.
