Police Beat for Monday, June 10th, 2024

A 55-year-old Sandoval woman was taken to the Marion County Jail by Sandoval Police for aggravated assault after allegedly pointing a gun at a man.  The man had gone to a Sandoval business to report the incident after it occurred on Saturday.  Sandoval Police located the suspect, Ronda Strength at her home on East Commercial Street where the incident had allegedly occurred.  She allowed Sandoval Police to search the home.  No real firearms were found, but an air rifle and an air handgun were found in the residence.

Salem Police arrested 23-year-old Dakota Day of Shuler Road in Salem for domestic battery following a second altercation of the weekend with a family member at a home in the 100 block of East Mitchell Street.  He reportedly struck a female in the neck and head.  Salem Police say the alleged victim went to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.  Day was taken to the Marion County Jail to await court action.

A 26-year-old Centralia man, Donavan Watson of South Lincoln, is being held on a no bond warrant issued in a driving on suspended license case.

A 29-year-old Iuka woman, Erika Kessler of South Avenue, was arrested on an Effingham County no bond misdemeanor warrant.  She was later transferred to the Effingham County Jail.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department investigated a report of gunshots fired outside a home in the 4700 block of Hoots Chapel Road around 4:30 Saturday afternoon.  A resident reported a vehicle had slowed down in front of his home and a passenger yelled something out the window and fired three or four shots.  Deputies say a suspect could not be located and they could not find any shell casings in the area where the shots were reportedly fired.
