The Salem Wildcats JV won both games at home yesterday over visiting Breese.
The Cats opened the night with a 4-2 comeback victory. Trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning, Salem loaded the bases and got a 2 run single from Avery Gullion to tie the game. Payton Gullion would score the go ahead run on heads up base running and Avery would follow him to the plate for an insurance tally. That would be all the offense the Cats would need as their pitching was solid. Avery got the win going 5 innings allowing no earned runs with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. Payton Gullion came in to get the final 6 outs and the save. He worked a perfect 2 innings with 4 strikeouts to nail it down. At the plate, Keytin Grawe singled and scored, Payton Gullion went 2-3 with a run, Kyler King, Huck Mulvaney and Jaxon Ward also had hits.
Salem won the nightcap 11-5. Silas Lux had a huge game going 4-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Luke Boldt had 2 hits and scored 3 runs with an RBI, Lance Nix singled and scored twice, Logan Butts also singled and scored. Trent Shelton had a run and Nicholi Marhanka scored twice. Boldt worked 3 stellar innings allowing just 1 hit and struck out 6. Landen White worked 2 innings of relief and Nix got an inning as well.
