The St Anthony Bulldogs are state baseball champions for the 2nd time in school history as they won a marathon day at Dozer Park beating Maroa Forsyth in the title game 8-5.  The game was scheduled to start at 7 pm, but they didn’t start until after 10 pm due to the rain.  The game was then delayed at 12:15 a.m. because the sprinklers went off, but in the end, St Anthony won the National Trail’s 3rd state title in the past 4 years and won their first since a 1a title they won in 2012.

Wilmington won the 3rd place game 4-0 over Newman Central Catholic.

For the first time in school history, the Altamont Indians played for a state championship in the 1a IHSA finals at Dozer Park on Saturday.  They fell short 6-2 to Ottawa Marquette to finish their year at 31-10.  In the 3rd place game, Jacksonville Routt beat Gibson City 3-0.

In 3a Sectional Finals on Saturday, Highland beat Mascoutah to win the Triad Sectional 3-2.  They will advance to play today at Millikin University in the Super-Sectional against Mahomet Seymour.

In 4a today, Edwardsville will take on Downers Grove North at Illinois Wesleyan.
