A 35-year-old Salem man was arrested for alleged resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance after getting into an altercation with a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy trying to arrest him on a no-bond Fayette County felony warrant.
A deputy spotted Jerrad Simpson of North Pearl standing at the drive-up window of the Hardees’s Restaurant late Sunday night and knew he was wanted on the warrant.
Simpson allegedly fought being arrested and reportedly tried to eat some of the fentanyl he had in his possession. He was treated at Salem Township Hospital before being moved to the Marion County Jail.
Simpson will have his first appearance before a judge on Tuesday.
