Memorial Day Services to remember those who fell protecting our country are scheduled in Salem and Centralia on Monday.  Most government offices are closed for Memorial Day, including Salem and Centralia City Halls.  City officials say trash pickup will not take place on Monday and will be one day late the rest of the week.

The Salem Memorial Day Service will be held at Eastlawn Cemetery in front of the Veterans Memorial at eleven Monday morning.  The Guest Speaker will be Wyatt Colclasure.  The Kaskaskia Brass Band will provide the music.

In Centralia, the Memorial Day Service is planned for eleven Monday morning at Hillcrest Memorial Park.  The guest speaker will be Jim Beasley, U.S. Army, 1953-1956.  Music will be provided by Morgan Isaiah.  The Presentation of the Flag will be Cub Scout Packs 260 and 245 and Scouts Troop 260.  A flag-folding ceremony will also be presented.  The program will conclude with the Three Volley Salute by the Honor Guard detail from the Centralia American Legion and VFW and the playing of ‘taps’ by Don Beaty.
