Kentucky Fried Chicken will be returning to Centralia.
The Centralia Planning Commission approved a special use permit Thursday night to clear the way for construction of the restaurant at 1310 Walton Way next to Team Mobile and between Buchheits and Walmart.
KBP Brands plans to construct a 1,500-square-foot building valued at $750,000. It will allow for drive-through and walk-up service.
During a phone conference call, the Farnsworth Group Civil Engineers said once the building permit is issued by the city, construction would take about 90 days which would mean completion by fall.
While the property is located in a B3 zoning district, since the building is for a restaurant the special use permit was needed. The vote was unanimous in favor of the permit.
While no firm numbers were available, the commission was told the KFC would have nine to ten employees.
