The Salem Wildcats are scheduled to host Altamont today for a JV/Varsity double header at SCHS Field. The JV game is set to start at 4:30 with the Senior Night activities to be held between games before the varsity plays starting around 7.
Salem will honor 4 seniors on their roster. They are Gavin Zimmermann, Nate Paulson, Kam Wilkins and Josh Powless.
The Cats found out they will be the #6 seed in their Sub-Sectional and a regional host that begins on May 20th with 8th seed Olney playing at #7 Charleston with the winner getting top seed Effingham on Wednesday the 22nd in the first semifinal. The 23rd Salem will take on 3rd seed Mattoon in the other semifinal with the championship game Saturday May 25th. The winner will advance to the Triad Sectional along with champs from Marion, Jerseyville and Waterloo. Mount Vernon and Centralia are the 4-5 seeds and will play at Marion in a semifinal game.
