Salem Community High School seniors earn $1,043,816 in scholarships

Salem Community High School seniors have earned $1,043,816 in scholarships and renewable awards.

The scholarships were presented at Senior Awards Night along with several other awards.

The special awards included Jillian Green and T.J. Gillett the DAR and SAR Award winners.   The Outstanding Senior of the Year is Faith Smith who also was named Outstanding Math, Science Student, and Spanish Student as well as being one of two to share Outstanding English Student.   She shares the award with Alexis Woodruff.  Payshence Shackleford was named Senior Volunteer of the Year.  She was also one of two Outstanding General Studies Students.  The other is Landon Szopinski.  The Outstanding Family and Consumer Science Students were Aubrey Hall and Kelsey Hutchison.  Reagan Lever and Olivia Paulson were named Outstanding Nursing Assistant Students.  The Outstanding Social Studies student was Jillian Powless.

Top music awards included Rebecca Hays as Outstanding Vocalist, Hayden Biagi winner of the Kohrig Memorial Award, Madison Freiboth Band Director’s Award, and Evan King the John Philip Sousa Award.  The Outstanding Drama Students were Marley Donoho and Shayla Prosise.

The Senior Technology Award was presented to Melanie Knaak.  The Green Team Recycler of the Year is Noah Slater.  Max Ambuehl won the Golden Anvil Award.  Andrew Braddy and Paytin Purcell were Building Trade Student of the Year.  Jacob Thrash was Auto Student of the Year and Max Ambuehl Future Auto Technician Award.  Outstanding Physical Education Students were Dyson Hails and Tabitha Sherwin.
