SCHS Prom is set for Friday evening

The Salem Community High School Prom will be Friday, May 3rd from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Salem Community High School in B.E. Gum Gymnasium.

This year’s theme is “Timeless Memories,” and the colors representing the theme are gold, champagne, and black. Doors will open to the public at 7:00 p.m. Special music will begin at 9:00 p.m. with the coronation starting at 9:30 p.m. and the Grand March immediately following the coronation.

Retiring Queen Maya Susmena (daughter of Del Susmena and Ambria and Eddie Hays of Salem) and retiring King Rex Brashear (son of Wade and Michelle Brashear of Iuka) will lead the coronation.

Spectators may buy reserved tickets for the gym’s chair seats for the night of prom in the Main Office from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. starting Monday, April 29th through Friday, May 3rd. Ticket prices will be $5 for reserved chair seats. The night of prom any unsold reserved chair seat tickets will be sold at the door along with general admission for bleacher seats. Cost for bleacher seats is $3 per person.

As in past years, the school will prohibit any parent/spectator from walking on the gym floor during prom. Prom 2024 will be professionally recorded by Wabash Communications and will be available digitally after prom. Please note, that any individual who wishes to videotape on their own will NOT be allowed to use the school’s power outlets due to the overloading of circuits.

Arrival Information: For Prom 2024 students will enter prom through the front gym lobby entrance of the SCHS building. Red carpet arrival with spectator viewing will be near doors 18, 19, and 20 in the front, with spectators using either door 18 or 20 to enter prom. Prom attendees will use Jefferson Street to line up for arrivals, proceed north behind Phillips 66, and then turn left on Seneff to return to Route 37. Seneff Street will be closed to thru traffic.

  • Miranda Podergois (daughter of Frank and Nikki Podergois of Salem and Misty Podergois of Centralia) and Josh Powless (son of Ryan and Denisha Powless of Salem)
  • Reagan Lever (daughter of David and Amy Lever of Salem) and Dyson Hails (son of Roger and Brenda Hails of Salem)

Junior Attendants are:

Post Prom sponsored by the Salem Lions Club will be held in the gymnasium after prom, from midnight – 3 a.m.
