The Salem Wildcats have dropped 6 straight games after another disappointing loss last night losing to visiting Freeburg 2-0. With the game scoreless in the top of the 7th, after a 1-out single by Krauss, Salem starter Gavin Zimmermann looked as though he had picked him off 2nd base, but a throwing error by his defense let Krauss get back to 2nd and he would eventually score the first of 2 unearned runs in the inning dropping Salem to 9-16 on the season. Zimmermann deserved better, as he allowed just 4 hits and struck out 9 and didn’t walk anyone on the day in the complete game. Salem had 4 hits on the day, Rhett Detering doubled with singles from Zimmermann, Keaton Gullion and Kam Wilkins.
Defense was awful for the Salem JV as well as they commit another 5 errors leading to 7 unearned runs in their 14-4 loss at Freeburg. Carter Lowe singled and drove in 2 runs, Keytin Grawe added a double and RBI, Colton Rogers also drove in a run.
