The Salem baseball team is right back in action today when they host Freeburg coming off a tough 4-3 loss at Columbia yesterday dropping them to 9-15 on the season. Salem committed 4 errors in the loss. At the plate, Jalen Inlow along with Rhett and Ryan Detering all three doubled. Ryan drove in a run along with Colton Shelton. Noah Nix singled and scored twice.
The Salem JV outlasted Columbia in Salem 14-13 on a walk-off base on balls to Eli Lograsso in the bottom of the 8th inning. Keytin Grawe doubled twice with 2 RBI, Brody Collier went 2-4 with 6 RBI, Evan Barnes drove in 2 with RBI also from Max Vincent, Lograsso, Carter Lowe and Colton Rogers. Lowe worked 3.2 with Collier working the final 4.1 to pick up the win. The JV will travel to Freeburg today.
The SC Cougars are flying high after a 2-1 win over Effingham as they will host Casey today. In the road win yesterday, Callaway Smith was great on the mound going 5 innings scattering 6 hits and allowing 1 unearned run. Trevan Sidwell worked the final 2 innings of 1-hit ball for the save. At the plate, Evan Hoover drove in a run with hits from Colton and Callaway Smith as well as Sidwell.
