A large crowd turned out for the first Senior Fair held in Salem since being shut down several years ago by COVID-19.
State Representative Blaine Wilhour sponsors the events and said he had many requests to bring back the fair after the ‘ridiculous rules’ of COVID had shut it down.
“It’s nice to be able to talk to the folks in the district and hear the things that are important to them and help people get over some of the bureaucratic hurdles of government here in the state of Illinois. It’s something we can do. It’s hard to pass laws in Springfield right now but we take a lot of pride in our staff and myself being around the district just helping to get government out of the way.”
Wilhour says over 40 vendors, including many state agencies, were present at the Salem Community Activity Center to answer questions from seniors and also provide some free health testing.
