The Central City Village Board on Tuesday evening approved a budget for the village’s 2024-2025 fiscal year which projects to carry a slight surplus.
The budget contains projected revenues of $1,065,578 against anticipated expenses of $1,010,174. Mayor Neely Reed commended trustees RoseAnn Pickett and Siera Stoffel, members of the village’s finance committee, for their efforts in preparing the budget.
Central City’s fiscal year starts on May 1.
In other business, the board approved a resolution to accept a quit claim deed for West Side Park, which Central City School has agreed to deed to the village. Village Clerk Stephanie Waggoner will file paperwork in the Marion County Circuit Clerk’s office to make the acquisition of the park official.
The board also approved a motion to offer a payment plan for cemetery plots at Mt. Evergreen
Cemetery, rather than requiring that they be paid for in one lump sum. Deeds will not be given until the plots are paid for in full. Waggoner will draft a resolution with specific terms for the board to consider at its next meeting.
Village officials also issued a reminder to the community that personal lawn mowers cannot be operated on cemetery property.
