Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrests two alleged child pornography offenders

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division has apprehended two child pornography offenders in separate investigations.

They are identified as 49-year-old Ryan Taylor of Mt. Vernon and 28-year-old Anthony Powell of Opdyke.

Taylor was arrested on April 20th after an investigation that started in January. The Sheriff’s Office received multiple cyber tips through their membership with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The investigation led to search warrants for Taylor’s cyber accounts, electronic devices, and then the residence. Evidence of criminal activity was recovered during the execution of the warrants. Taylor was incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail for the crime of Possession of Child Pornography.

Powell was arrested on April 22nd after an investigation that started on April 2nd. The Sheriff’s Office again received cyber tips through the ICAC Task Force, which led to search warrants for Powell’s cyber accounts, electronic devices, and the residence. Evidence of criminal activity was recovered during the execution of the warrants. Powell was incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail for the crime of Production of Child Pornography.

The sheriff’s department reports both investigations continue.
