Salem Country Club was one of five regional sites for the SIJHSAA Golf post season. The top 10 in both boys and girls divisions advance to the May 7th State Competition at Rend Lake.
Gaige Donoho of New Horizon won the boys event scorching the course with a 36. He advances along with Max Rinchart of Mt Vernon who shot 40, Zane Wilcox of Mt Carmel 41, Eli Gray of Carlyle 42, Drake Stevenson of Mt Carmel 45, Liam Beckham of Rome and Jaxon Ward of Selmaville with 46s, Scout Puricelli of Franklin Park who shot 48 along with Laken Kirkpatrick of Woodlawn and the final qualifier was Austin Smith of Olney who shot 49.
Also competing for Salem boys were Kai Graham and Eli Dice who each shot 52 and Huck Mulvaney who added a 50 and missed advancing by 1 stroke.
In the girls competition the top 8 and ties advanced. Winning the event was Ella Turner of Mt Carmel who shot 37, Miranda Kennard of Mt Carmel shot 40, Lola Meador of Mt Carmel was 3rd with a 42 followed by Franklin Park’s Reagan Shuler who shot 43, Kailee Gregg of Carlyle shot 45, Alex Johnson of Carlyle shot 45, Raegan Jezek of Sandoval was 7th with a 49 along with Makayla Bolden of Mt Carmel.
Also competing for the Salem girls were Brynn Kessler who shot 58, Quinn Wolfe 52 and Lilah Barrow 66.
