The Salem Wildcats fell to 9-13 over the weekend with a pair of losses at powerhouse Mascoutah. They dropped the first game 10-0. Salem only had 3 hits, singles from Gavin Zimmermann and Cooper Lobek and a Keaton Gullion double. Ayden Rose and Kam Wilkins pitched for the Cats.
In the 2nd game, Salem lost 14-4 as the Indians broke the game open with 7 runs in the 3rd inning. For Salem, Aden Bass had a hit and 3 RBI and Jalen Inlow drove in another run. Rhett Detering and Lobek pitched for Salem in the loss. The Cats return to action at Columbia on Tuesday.
The Salem JV dropped both their games at Mascoutah losing the opener 12-2. Keytin Grawe doubled and drove in both Salem runs. Carter Lowe and Max Vincent had the other Salem hits. Evan Barnes and Grawe pitched in the loss. The Cats defense let them down again in Game 2 falling 12-8 committing 5 more errors and giving up 10 unearned runs. Lowe had a pair of hits and scored 3 runs, Barnes drove in 3 with RBI from Brody Collier and Avery Gullion. Payton Gullion went 2 innings in the start giving up 7 runs, all unearned with Hudson Gambill working the final 2.2.
Christ Our Rock split with Wesclin on the road losing the opener 5-2. Jayden Bazile drove in a Stallions run and Lendon Isaiah had 2 hits. Parker Boehne worked all 6 innings allowing just 3 earned runs. The Stallions won the 2nd game 11-0. Bazile had a double, triple, drove in a run and scored twice. Omari King drove in a pair and Hanke added 3 RBI. Brayden Albert was the winning pitcher going all 6 innings scattering 3 hits.
Also on Saturday, Mater Dei beat Marquette 2-0, Charleston 12-2 over Altamont, Flora nipped Neoga 2-1, Freeburg beat Gibault 5-4 and TTown 5-3, Carlyle dropped a pair to Greenville losing 14-2 and 10-6, Vandalia lost to Harrisburg 10-8 and 7-1, Marion beat Pinckneyville 13-5 and St Anthony shutout Marshall 10-0.
Today, South Central is back in action traveling to TTown.
